Lui is an illustrator, animator, and educator based in Manila.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Art Studies from the University of the Philippines Diliman.
As an illustrator, he works primarily on children’s book illustration. Since 2019, he has published four books from two major Philippine publishing houses, Lampara Publishing House and OMF-Hiyas Literature, on topics like environmental stewardship, elder care, and child emotions. His third book was a collaborative project between Lampara Publishing House and Room to Read Organization, a global non-profit dedicated to children’s literacy and girls’ education. This book was provided for free to Philippine public schools.
As an educator, he has worked as lecturer at the Asia Pacific College High School Department and taught university-level General Education humanities course at the UP Diliman where he is also earning his master’s degree in Art Studies, major in (Philippine) Art History. His research interests include youth media, animation, education and museums.
He is a member of Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (Ang INK), Philippines’ first and only organization of illustrators and Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
